Earth 300 signs an MOU with HM Government of Gibraltar.

SINGAPORE, NOVEMBER 2, 2022

Earth 300 was founded to ring the climate alarm on a global scale and catalyse the largest and greatest climate action effort in history; to launch an era of ecological imagination and inspire a new brand of planetary vanguard.

To meet this challenge Earth 300 will marry science, technology, innovation, adventure, education and entertainment in ways never before imagined. As its base Earth 300 has conceived an extreme technology platform for science, exploration and innovation at sea – the Earth 300 vessel. Its ultimate mission is to help ensure the future of life on earth.

Originally conceived in Asia-Pacific, Earth 300 is expanding across the world and is now announcing its first European anchor: Gibraltar. The Rock needs no introduction. Its location at the mouth of the Mediterranean gives it a strategically important position. It sits at the cradle of civilisation and today enjoys the superstructure of the British and the infrastructure of the Mediterranean.

Gibraltar is important to Earth 300 for non-seafaring reasons as well.

There are few places in the world where land, water and air come together in as breathtaking a setting as Gibraltar. Having a presence there will help us dream, dare, and do.

Gibraltar is not just our first European anchor. It’s where our global journey physically begins. Earth 300 is delighted and thrilled to have signed an MOU with The Hon Prof John Cortes MBE, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Climate Change & Heritage for the development of the Earth 300 project, encompassing science, technology, innovation and education with a focus and dedication on combating the harmful effects of climate change.

“I am passionate about Gibraltar, being local and having been away from Gibraltar for so long it is really a great honour and unique privilege to have been so warmly received by the Hon Prof John Cortes MBE. The fact that Minister Cortes is a scientist who has shared an intimate relationship with nature is a tremendous boon for HM Government of Gibraltar.”

– Aaron Olivera, CEO Earth 300

“I see Gibraltar with the potential of becoming a global innovation hub for forward thinking scientists, seeing the birth of activities on the Rock such as genetic engineering and even rocket science, ultimately becoming a worldwide exporter of scientific intelligence.”

– Aaron Olivera, CEO Earth 300

“We need scientists in politics, until we have scientists, people who actually understand how the world works, taking the decisions and not just advising on the decisions, we will not be able to make a significant difference.”

– Hon. Minister John Cortes MBE

“I had no hesitation in supporting Aaron’s project – the new techniques, new initiatives, new dimensions, thinking well outside the box, bringing people together from across the world with this aim in mind. Because we need innovation.”

– Hon. Minister John Cortes MBE
