Peter Kristian Ellegaard

Peter is a global multidisciplinary legal expert specialising in maritime law, he served as Maersk’s General Counsel and has worked in various multinational corporations in senior legal, compliance and business leadership roles. He has also advised and worked with entrepreneurs and start-ups, and sees Earth 300 as a great catalyst to advance the world of science at sea.

He was previously an M&A attorney with Morgan, Lewis BockiusLLP in New York where he advised on several maritime and intellectual property-intensive transactions.

In his previous roles with listed companies, he also had oversight of securities laws and risk management compliance.

Peter is admitted to practice in the State of New York as an attorney and counselor-at-law, to the roll of solicitors of the Senior Courts in England and Wales (currently inactive) and as an advocate in Denmark (currently inactive). He is also admitted to appear before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Peter received his LLM from Fordham University School of Law in 2007. He received his LLM in Danish law in 2002 and his LLB in 2001 from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and his BComm with majors in accounting and finance in 1997 from Flinders University of South Australia. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law (master’s level) from London Metropolitan University.

Peter has since 2018 been serving as a director of a Copenhagen, Denmark-listed maritime company.

Peter has been advising Earth 300 since Day 1 and has led the company’s global legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate secretary functions.
